The only difference between them is that with custom kits you will send an impression of your teeth to dentist lab and they will send you custom made mouth tray, while with regular kits you will form your own mouth tray at home using the "boil and bite" method. Both sorts of kits work exactly the same - whitening gel is placed inside mouth tray and then applied to your teeth for a certain period of time, depending of whitening gel used strength.

At-Home teeth whitening kits have many advantages compared to other products... Whitening kits are very effective, they are not too expensive (their price ranges from less then $100 up to few $100) and they are pretty easy to use and will cover all teeth at same time. Teeth whitening kits can make your teeth few shades whiter per treatment.

Teeth Whitening Kits Disadvantages
Disadvantages of whitening kits are the same as with any other whitening products... Here's whole list of possible teeth whitening side effects... These problems reduce notably with usage of custom whitening kits since less gel spills from mouth tray and therefore irritations are less, if any. Other disadvantage of this whitening method is that it's not supervised by dentist (especially with regular kits)...
